Welsh Rarebit
We see and hear so much about the maltreatment of dogs, so it’s always nice to have a story that warms the heart. Here’s a picture of a very special dog who was recently abandoned in South Wales and subsequently brought to our Bridgend Rehoming Centre.

His name’s Weasel, he’s a five month old terrier and was born with no ears. This hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm for life one bit – he’s a cheeky chap and can be quite mischievous. Luckily, he was befriended by a gorgeous kennel mate – Holly the Collie – who’s helped to keep him in his place. Needless to say, our staff adore him.
Weasel’s also a very brave boy who is taking his visits to various vets in his stride. He’s been to a hearing specialist, had an MRI scan and has just had an operation at Bristol University Vet School to restore his hearing. I’m delighted to say that the op seems to have gone really well.
And, as soon as he’s recovered, he’s going to a new home with an extremely active couple who’ll be able to cope with his boundless energy.
Weasel’s become something of a media mutt, featuring in news stories across the globe. The response we’ve received to the press coverage has been staggering and just goes to show how much man’s best friend means to us.
So, next time you’re exasperated by a tale of animal cruelty, take some comfort from the fact that an earless abandoned dog can be plucked from the streets, given cuddles galore at a first class re-homing centre, receive state of the art veterinary treatment and then be adopted by loving owners. And, in doing so, capture the hearts of millions of dog lovers.
If you donate to Dogs Trust, thank you for making it possible for us to do so much for dogs like Weasel.
If you don’t donate, I hope I’ve convinced you that you should! Follow this link to send a gift today.
Best wishes
Clarissa

Weasel
How lovely that he is going to a new home. I am sure I saw this dog on the Paul OGrady show on Channel four. If no weasel then it was definaly a terrier that had been born with no ears. is this a common occurance?
Thank you all for the work you do in helping our beloved friends.

The Chinese Fur Trade
Dear Clarissa, can you help? I have been tortured by the tbought of cats and dogs being skinned alive in China for their fur!!! Heather McCarthy was the first to highlight this horror and there was a slot on the Channel Four News recently, though I have not read anything in the press about it subsequently. I am not sure whether this is the right forum to talk about this, but I feel helpless, sickened and hopeless. What can an individual do to combat this evil? Many thanks for your wonderful organisation.

Adoption
Hello,I adopted Mikey Brown a while ago,& he sends me letters & cards,{he's very clever,he reads & writes}Haha.I only wish I could do more, but on a pension it's not possible.I have two dogs of my own so can't really adopt one into the house. However,I read all the things on your site regularly,& recently signed the petition re:- the Dublin ban.Thankyou for bringing it to my notice.I t's obcene! Those idiots want slinging out. They are obviously NOT,dog lovers.Since I signed,I see it has risen to over 32.000 signatures. It shows what caring folk there are out there. Are there any responses from Dublin yet?
Keep up the BRILLIANT CARING work you are doing for the wonderful dogs in your care.Love to Mikey Brown please.
Oh,I also have 8 adopted wolves I can see when I can get to them.Just loves wolves.
Bye for now,& thanks for what you do.Blessings on you all & the doggies.
Pauline.

Hi, Weasel here!!
Hi, it's Weasel here, I was just 'Googling' myself and thought I'd update all the kind people who have been asking for me.
I love my home and family. Gibson, my older sister-dog has been showing me the ropes and I love running off road around north wales with her.
Thank you for thinking of me,
Weasel
